The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayractar said that Turkey will begin to search for hydrocarbon resources on 3 blocks in the Somali seas.
Minister Bayractar attended the ceremony of signing an agreement on the exploration and production of hydrocarbons between Turkey and Somalia in Istanbul along with the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Somali Abdirizak Omar Mohamed.
Speaking at a press conference after the ceremony, Bayractar said that Turkey today is one of the countries with the most significant fleet of deep-sea vessels in the world.
The Minister noted that the Turkish oil corporation (TPAO) continues intensive intelligence in the seas with the help of 4 deep -sea drilling and 2 seismic vessels, and as a result of these studies, Turkey made an important opening of natural gas in the Black Sea:
“In August 2020, we made the most important discovery of natural gas in the history of the republic, and in a very short time we have reached the extraction stage to satisfy some of our country’s needs in natural gas. We currently get 5.5 million cubic meters in Day at the Sakarya gas field “.
He said that in September 2021 an important opening was made in the field of oil, as well as natural gas: “At present, we have reached daily production of 45 thousand barrels for 41 wells in the dimensional. We strive to increase this indicator as soon as possible up to 100 thousand barrels, ”he added.
