Turkey is concerned about the arrest of the former chairman of the Parliament of Tunisia, the leader of the An-Nahda movement Rashid al-Ghannushi.
Turkey Foreign Ministry said that actions directed against politicians representing various strata of society cannot contribute to ensuring social consent in Tunisia.
The department emphasized that democratic processes in Tunisia can be successful only in case of coverage of all layers of the society of this country.
“Turkey will further contribute to the world, prosperity and well -being of the friendly and fraternal Tunisia,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Tunisian court earlier decided to arrest the leader of the An-Nahda movement Rashid al-Ghannushi.
The politician was detained on April 17, security forces broke into his house right during Iftar (evening conversation, eating during the Holy Muslims of the month of Ramazan). Interrogation in the prosecutor’s office lasted 48 hours.
On the morning of April 20, al-Ghannushi was arrested by court decision.
