Turkey is still full of determination to eradicate the threat emanating from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization and to protect its citizens and the country’s boundaries from terrorist encroachments. This was stated on Thursday by the Turkish Permanent at the UN Fedat ONAL.
“Turkey is determined to make everything necessary to eliminate this threat and protect its citizens and borders in full accordance with international law and international humanitarian law,” ONAL said at a meeting of the UN Security Council for Syria.
The diplomat noted that the group threatens not only the stability and territorial integrity of Syria, but also the “existential interests of the national security of Turkey.”
He recalled that this year PKK/YPG made 67 attacks from the territory of the Syrian Tel Rifat and Munbich to objects in Turkey, as well as areas controlled by the Syrian opposition in Syria.
ONAL emphasized the importance of combating all the forms and manifestations of terrorism.
The forefront noted that Syria negotiations in Astana last week emphasized the need to maintain territorial integrity and national unity of this country.
