Türkiye Launches First Domestic Communication Satellite Türksat 6a

On Monday, April 21, the commissioning ceremony of the first Turkish communication satellite Türksat 6A will be held. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

The Ceremony will take part in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Uralogla said that with the launch of the Türksat 6A satellite, coverage of the Turkish satellite audience will increase from 3.5 billion to 5 billion. According to him, the device will provide services for at least 15 years.

The head of the department recalled that Türksat 1b is the first artificial satellite, which Türkiye brought to orbit in 1994. Then followed by Türksat 1C (launched in 1996), and Türksat 2A began work in 2001.

The minister noted that Türksat 6A is the result of almost 20 years of work, a uraologla. According to him, thanks to the implementation of the Türksat project, Türkiye was one of the 11 countries that can produce communication satellites.

He added that 84 out of 100 parts of the satellite were produced in Turkey, while the share of local parts was more than 80%.

Uraologla emphasized that Türksat 6A will contribute to the activation of Turkey’s presence in space and reducing external dependence in the field of key technologies.
