Turkey offered Greece assistance in the fight against the ongoing fires in the area of the cities of Dedeagach (Alexander Polyis) and Rodop.
According to information received from the diplomatic sources of Ankara, the Turkish side proposed to send two aircraft, two helicopters and a group of rescuers of 60 people.
The proposal was sent to the Greek authorities on August 21.
The fire that broke out in the city of Dedeagach on August 19 could not take control due to strong gusts of wind.
The fire, which the day before touched the villages in the Rodop area, where ethnic Turks live compactly, has spread today aside the mountainous terrain.
