Türkiye Restores Damascus Airport

Türkiye sent a technical group consisting of 25 people to Syria with the aim of starting work on the reconstruction of Damascus International Airport. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

According to Uralogl, the team of Turkish experts includes employees of the State Directorate of Airports.

“In order to ensure flight safety at the Damascus International Airport and in the Syrian airspace, we sent 113 vehicles, devices and systems to the country,” said the Turkish minister.

According to him, Turkish experts will also conduct trainings for the airport staff.

Uraloglla added that Turkey provided 10 X -ray apparatuses, four explosive traces, 10 passing and 8 portable metal detectors.

“Our teams acting in coordination with the Syrian authorities completed the installation of most of these devices. Efforts to increase the level of security are ongoing, reports are being prepared to eliminate the remaining shortcomings,” he said.

In addition, Türkiye provided two combined rescue and fire trucks of domestic development of Volkan Lion 8×8. The Syrian side also transmitted various fire equipment to improve the response to emergency situations at the airport.

“Türkiye will continue cooperation with the aim of strengthening the aviation infrastructure of friendly and fraternal Syria,” Abdulkadir Uraloglu summed up.
