Turkey rose to 11th place in the ranking of countries with the highest power of renewable energy sources (VIE). This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey by Alparslan Bayractar, whose words are quoted by the Turkish ministry.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey with reference to the data of the International Agency for Renovated Energy Sources (Irena), the top 3 countries with the highest installed capacity of renewable energy sources included China, the USA and Brazil. This is followed by India, Germany, Japan, Canada, Spain, France and Italy. Turkey, which occupied the 12th place in the previous rating, is located in 11th place with a powerful capacity of 58,462 megavatts.
The minister noted that Turkey actively uses sunny, wind, hydraulic, geothermal and other renewable resources, including them to the country’s economy through special programs.
Turkey expects to put 5 thousand megavatts of new installed capacity in the field of renewable energy annually to bring this indicator to 60 thousand megavatts by 2035, – Bayraktar said.
“as of April 2024, we exceeded 1400 megavatts. By the end of the year, we will definitely reach a goal of 5 thousand megawatts,” he said.
According to the minister, the installed capacity of 25 thousand megavatts will increase to 30 thousand megawatts by the end of the year and to 35 thousand megawatts in 2025.
