Türkiye Seeks To Strengthen Trade Relations And Mutual Investments With Countries Of Asia-Pacific Region

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan went on a three -day official tour of Asia, including visits to Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan. During negotiations with the leadership of these states, the parties plan to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as the conclusion of new agreements in various fields.

According to the chairman of the Council of Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (Dei̇k), Nail Olpak, the trade turnover of Turkey with these countries already exceeds $ 8 billion, but Ankara is counting on further expansion of interaction. “Thanks to positive dynamics in relations with Asia -Pacific countries, we strive to strengthen trade relations, develop cooperation and increase the volume of mutual investments,” he said in an interview with Anadola’s agency.

As part of the visit, Erdogan will hold meetings of the Council of Strategic Cooperation of High -Tajor in Indonesia and Pakistan, as well as meet representatives of business circles. In addition, the parties intend to discuss topical regional and global issues, including the situation in Gaza.

The chairman of Dei̇k said that business forums will be organized as part of the tour: February 11 in Kuala Lumpur, February 12 in Jakarta and February 13 in Islamabad. “We strive to unite representatives of Turkish business with their partners in these countries and strengthen bilateral ties,” Olpak emphasized.

In addition, meetings of the World Council of Turkish Business (DTİK) are planned, which will meet entrepreneurs of Turkish origin, as well as businessmen working with Turkey.

According to Dei̇k, the volume of trade between Turkey and Malaysia is $ 5 billion, with Indonesia – more than $ 2 billion, and more than $ 1 billion with Pakistan. Ankara is counting on the further growth of these indicators, as well as on the expansion of joint projects in third countries.

The key sectors for cooperation are called defense, aviation, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism, digital economics, logistics, mining, textiles, transport, chemical products, banking sector, automotive, high technologies and scientific research .

According to Olpak, the planned business forums and meetings will help strengthen trade relations between Turkey and Asian countries. “We strive to ensure that economic and cultural relations cover more and more areas, from trade and investment to joint projects in different regions of the world,” he concluded.
