Turkey’s attitude to the development of relations with the countries of Africa completely coincides with the principles of the founding countries of the African Union (AS). Ankara advocates mutually beneficial ties with African states, based on the principles of mutual respect and equal partnership. This is stated in the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Africa Day.
The department congratulated all the peoples of the continent in connection with the anniversary of the founding of the AC, the creation of which are the ideals of peace, unity and development of Africa. “Modern Africa strengthens its positions on the world stage. Its influence and role of the key player is growing. Turkey, for its part, supports efforts to strengthen peace, stability and development in Africa, supports the initiatives of the African countries to ensure greater representation on international platforms,” noted in Foreign Ministry of Turkey.
Africa Day was established when creating the organization of African unity (OAE). His successor is the African Union formed in the summer of 2002. Events dedicated to Africa Day will be held in all 55 countries – members of AS.
In Ankara, where the embassies of 38 African countries operate today, the events of Africa Day will also take place, including an exhibition of handmade products of Africa countries.
