Türkiye Warned About Inadmissibility Of Violation Of Its Rights In Framework Of EU Marine Spatial Planning

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey stated that it would not commit violations of Turkey’s rights as part of the work on marine spatial planning.

In the published statement, the Ministry noted that Turkey is closely monitored by the relevant works of the EU in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, directing the necessary warnings to interested parties and taking all measures to protect its rights.

“The cards of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas used in these works are invalid for Turkey and cannot have any actual or legal consequences. We emphasize that we will not accept violations of our rights during these works,” the statement says. < /p>

The Foreign Ministry recalls that the EU has no right to express an opinion on the issues of sea zones between sovereign states and that the EU participation in such initiatives complicates the process of resolving problems.

The statement notes the impossibility of making unilateral decisions in relation to sea zones. “Such attempts will damage efforts on the comprehensive, fair and sustainable solution of the interconnected problems of the Aegean Sea,” it says.

In conclusion, the statement emphasizes the need for a sincere and comprehensive approach to solving problems based on international law, friendship and good neighborliness.
