Turkey was elected a member of the World Heritage Committee, said the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersa.
“We have good news! Turkey was elected member of the World Heritage Committee,” the minister wrote in social networks.
Ersa specified that Turkey became a member of the Committee on the results of voting at the 24th session of the General Assembly of the State Parties “, held on Wednesday in the capital of France Paris.
“During the four -year period of Turkish membership, together with other members of the committee, will have the right to vote in the decision -making process regarding candidates for the World Heritage List at meetings of the World Heritage Committee,” the minister said.
He also noted that Turkey was part of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee from 1983-1989 to 2013-2017.
