Türkiye plans to start exploration of oil and natural gas in Somalia.
This was announced on Friday by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar, speaking at the ceremony of the meeting of the Turkish research vessel Oruç Reis in Mogadisho.
The relevant agreement is signed between the Turkish oil corporation (TPAO) and the Somali oil department.
According to the head of the department, the agreement provides for exploration of hydrocarbons on land.
Bayractar noted that Türkiye and Somalia continue to expand cooperation in sea areas.
