Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have concluded short -term contract for gas supply

Uzbek Uzgastrade and Turkmen “Turkmengaz” entered into a short -term contract for the supply of Turkmen gas in the amount of up to 2 billion cubic meters per year. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamamamamymudov in an interview with the Turkmen State News Portal.

The relevant agreement was reached during negotiations in Ashgabat of the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamamamamamamammudov and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov, who oversees the fuel and energy complex.

“This is only the beginning, because we discussed the wider prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. This is the study of a long -term contract for longer terms and with an increase in deliveries,” said Mirzamymudov, whose words are given by the newspaper.

According to the minister, the parties considered the issues of interaction in the field of energy supply, electricity transit to third countries, as well as the supply of oil, oil products, chemical products, in particular, phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers, caustic and calcined soda, chlorine. Earlier, in December, Uzbekistan first concluded a direct contract for the supply of gas with Turkmenistan, without the participation of a third party. For three months, it was planned to import about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas to cover the deficit in the winter season.
