The volume of trade between Turkey and the European Union in 2024 amounted to $ 216 billion. This was stated by the Minister of Trade of Turkey Omer Bolat during a speech in the country’s parliament.
According to him, this is 4 percent higher than the same indicator last year.
The head of the department also noted the activation of efforts to update the Customs Union between Turkey and the EU.
Bolat said that there are currently negotiations between the parties on a number of reasonable requirements of Turkey. Among them are the elimination of visa barriers, as well as issues related to transport, transit documents for heavy vehicles and incompatibility with free trade agreements.
The minister added that in the sectors of the Turkish economy, work is underway related to the processes of green and digital transformation of the EU.
