Bolat attracted attention to the consequences of the Civil War in Syria, such as migration, terrorism and the cessation of Turkish trade flows in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf countries.
The minister recalled that last week in Syria, the 61-year-old BAAS regime was overthrown, and the new leadership of the Arab Republic carries out close cooperation with Turkey.
In the new period, it will be possible to achieve a large impulse in the economy, trade, investments and restoration work between Turkey and Syria, the head of the department is convinced.
Turkish cross -border operations made it possible to free a significant territory of Syria, as a result of which Assad regime lost control of the southern borders, Bolat reminded.
– “Some customs duties have increased, some decreased”
The minister said that during the Civil War in Syria, serious customs payments during the import of food, building materials and other goods necessary for the Arab Republic,
According to him, the new administration who came to power has changed 6302 customs tariffs in order to collect income to cover government spending.
Bolat said that in the framework of this program, Syria switched to a new and general customs and tax regime, including customs points on borders with Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq.
“As a result, customs duties for some goods exported to the northern regions of Syria were increased and reduced to others. When there was an increase, we, unfortunately, observed false, deliberate and disinforming reports that the new administration in Syria increased customs duties only for goods from Turkey, and not for Arab countries, ”Omer Bolat continued.
Turkish authorities contacted the new leadership of Syria and found out that the decision was made to cover the state and does not apply exclusively to Turkey, the head of the Ministry of Trade said.
According to him, the Syrian authorities thanked Turkey for their support and agreed with the newly voiced by the new proposals.
“In 2007, an agreement on free trade between Turkey and Syria was signed. When the civil war began, both parties suspended the document. We made a proposal to” revive it in the broadest sense, unite and do the necessary work on a productive basis, ”and they said that they relate to this positively,” said Bolat.
