Two BLocked countries EU sanctions against nuclear industry of Russia

France and Hungary opposed the plans of the European Commission (EC) to impose sanctions against individuals and legal entities related to the atomic energy of the Russian Federation. This was reported on Thursday by the European publication Politico with reference to three European diplomats.

“Unfortunately, the atomic sector is not included in this proposal,” officials said, commenting on the content of the latest projects of the 10th package of sanctions against Russia.

According to the newspaper, Hungary and France became the main opponents of the nuclear industry. It is noted that the reason for counteraction from Hungary was the extreme importance of Rosatom NPP in the country’s energy system. France indicated that a large number of nuclear power plants around the world are using Russian raw materials.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called for sanctions against the Rosatom of the EU leaders. In turn, the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauceda said that his country will make the EU to include Rosatom’s sanctions, enterprises of the diamond industry and banks.
