Ukraine may resume negotiations with Russia about the war at the end of August, said the head of the Ukrainian negotiating group David Arahamia in an interview with Voice of America.
Arahamia emphasized that right now the Ukrainian side does not consider the possibility of resuming negotiations. According to him, this can only happen after the “counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in some places” and subject to strengthening Ukrainian positions at the front. Arahamia did not specify what specifically at question, “in order not to share plans with the Russians.”
“The minimum acceptable agreement would be if we kicked them out or they voluntarily retreated to the positions where they were until February 24,” said the head of the Ukrainian negotiation group. After that, according to Arahamia, we can talk about the return of all Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
The last full -time meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul on March 29. Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia were suspended in mid -May.
