In the shadow of the war in Ukraine, the “Embroidery Day” was aimed at preserving the traditions of manufacturing and wearing national embroidered clothing.
Throughout Ukraine, where the war has been going on for about 15 months, various events have passed as part of the “Embroidery Day”. In one of the most affected by the war of the cities of Kharkov, the ceremony on the occasion of the “Embroidery Day”
was held to the sounds of sirens.
Kharkovites in traditional clothing with national embroidery gathered in front of the Taras Shevchenko monument in the city center. They performed the anthem of Ukraine and folk songs.
Despite the fact that a constant threat of air strikes remains in Kharkov, it was decided to celebrate the holiday in the city center.
The event at which, in connection with the 79th anniversary of the Crimean Tatar exile, several people raised the Crimean Tatar National Flag, lasted about an hour.
“Embroidery Day” is also celebrated in some countries outside Ukraine.
