The Government of Ukraine approved the proposal of the Foreign Ministry to withdraw the country from international treaties with the Russian Federation, Belarus and within the Commonwealth of Independent States. This is stated in the message on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
The corresponding bill will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine.
Denunciation of 14 international treaties of Ukraine – five with Russia, four with Belarus, and five agreements concluded in the CIS – in military, energy, financial, economic, transport, social and medical spheres.
“The Foreign Ministry continues to break through all international legal relations with the aggressor state and its satellites,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry noted that practical cooperation with the Russian Federation and Belarus has long been terminated, but it is necessary to “legally disconnect hundreds of wires that our state was annexed to Moscow and the CIS countries”.
“This is a long and systemic work, which we are now accelerating with the appropriate decisions of packages. We count on the support of the next such step by the people’s deputies,” the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba are given.
