The Ukrainian military uses drones to capture Russian troops, writes The New York Times (NYT).
.
Over time, Ukraine can do this part of its program for the agitation of Russian troops to surrender.
APU for the first time used drones to capture the enemy at the end of November. Then they published personnel on which the Russian soldier throws weapons, raises his hands and follows the drone that flew over his head. The drone led to the 54th division of the Ukrainian army who surrendered to the soldiers.
Ukraine is actively campaigning Russian soldiers not to fight, but to desert and surrender. Nevertheless, surrender is one of the most dangerous actions on the battlefield, Nyt emphasizes.
The front line stretched for hundreds of kilometers, the Earth between the trenches is mined and protected by snipers. In addition, the front line is subjected to regular bombing. It is very dangerous to organize surrender in such a place for both sides.
That is why the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to use drones for this. The surrender, whose video was published in November, was shot by chance, said NYT by the representative of the Coordinating headquarters of Ukraine for the treatment of prisoners of war Peter Yatsenko.
When this happened, the Ukrainian military thought that drones can be used to captivate the military.
A few weeks later, the Ukrainian General Staff released a detailed video with instructions how Russian soldiers can give up a drone.
For starters, a soldier who decided to surrender must call the project “I want to live” and get instructions and coordinates. “It is important to arrive in the indicated point in time and wait for the appearance of the quadrocopter, then raise your hands,” the video says.
“After the drone shows the vector of movement, the surrenders must follow the drone,” -it is noted there.
While the program is in its infancy, Yatsenko said. But, according to him, the Armed Forces managed to take several Russians in this way.
It is not yet clear whether Ukraine can only convince Ukraine to desert a significant number of Russian military. Over time, Ukraine intends to expand the program for mass agitation of Russians to surrender, Yatsenko noted.
