On the night of August 8, the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Himars missiles struck the deployment points of Russian troops at industrial sites in Ukrainian Melitopol (since March 2022 was captured by Russia). This was announced by the mayor of the city Ivan Fedorov in Telegram.
According to preliminary data, a significant number of Russian military equipment were destroyed. According to Fedorov, more than 100 Russian soldiers were killed.
“Today is the most effective and indicates that the existing enemy air defense units are no longer able to resist the Himars. The weakening of the air defense system creates the necessary prerequisites for a successful counterattack in the Melitopol direction,” Fedorov said.
Fedorov noted that last week the Russians relocated a significant part of the air defense from Melitopol to Kherson.
