Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that he could not say with confidence that his country’s application to join NATO will be approved by the Turkish parliament in October.
In a statement for the Swedish media about Sweden entry into NATO, Kristersson said that Turkey will make a decision on Sweden membership in NATO.
The Prime Minister in particular said: “I can’t promise that our NATO membership will be approved in October. This decision is made by Turkey.”
recalling that the parties agreed that the document on the approval of Sweden membership in NATO will be sent to the parliament “as soon as possible” after the opening of the parliament, he added:
“Everyone expects Sweden membership to NATO will be approved after the opening of the parliament. Now the parliament is open. I think that the time has come to ratify Sweden membership in NATO.”
