The UN strongly urges to eliminate all obstacles and ensure the continuation of the grain agreement. This was announced at a meeting of the UN Security Council by the Deputy General Secretary of the UN for political issues of Rosemary Dicarlo.
Dicarlo emphasized that the UN is disappointed with the slow pace of the implementation of the Black Sea grain initiative.
“Food exports in the sea humanitarian corridor fell from a peak level of 4.2 million tons in October last year to 1.3 million tons in May of this year, this is the lowest indicator from the beginning of the implementation of the initiative,” she said.
The UN is also fully committed to support for the implementation of the Memorandum of understanding with regard to Russian exports of food and fertilizer, Dicarlo noted.
