The International Migration Organization (IMO) UN called for urgent global actions to prevent the outcome of the conflict in Sudan, which entered into its third year, into an even greater regional instability.

In her written statement, MOM emphasized the urgent need for coordinated global actions to facilitate the unimaginable scale of humanitarian suffering caused by the conflict in Sudan, and prevent more regional instability.

The statement notes that the conflict provoked the world’s largest crisis of moving the population and one of the most serious humanitarian emergency situations. “More than 11.3 million people are currently internally displaced persons, of which 8.6 million were forced to leave their homes due to the current conflict. In addition, another 3.9 million people desperately fled to neighboring countries only over the past 2 years in search of security, food and shelter,” the statement said.

it is emphasized that more than 30 million people, including 16 million children, which is two -thirds of the population of Sudan, need urgent humanitarian aid.

CEO of MOM AMI POUP, whose words are given in the statement, noted: “The war pushed Sudan to the edge of the abyss. Thousands of lives were lost due to violence. Families were divided, and the hopes and aspirations of millions of people broke on hunger, illness and complete collapse of the economy.”

POUP emphasized the need for long -term investments so that people in Sudan can safely return and restore their lives.

Having emphasized that the people of Sudan cannot wait, the POP said that the international community should clearly show that “the people of Sudan is not forgotten.”

The conflict in Sudan entered the third year

The conflict between the army and the quick response forces (SBR) in Sudan, lasting from April 15, 2023, entered his third year.

The conflict, which, according to the UN, caused the world’s largest crisis of the population, led to serious destruction of infrastructure, health, education and economics of the country.

Due to the conflict, more than 11 million people became internally displaced faces, and about 4 million people crossed the border with neighboring countries.

The Sudanese army established control over most of the capital of Hartum after 23 months, while the SBR sent their forces to the Western region of Darfur, most of which they hold.

SBR, which controls 4 out of 5 provinces of Darfur, has been besieging El Fashir, the administrative center of the Northern Darfur, the last province that have not been controlled by him for about a year. The army and allied forces continue to defend the city.
