UN: Consequences Of Floods Affected More Than 700 Thousand

The consequences of floods caused by the spillful rains to the present moment affected more than 700 thousand people in Central and West Africa.

This was announced at the press conference by Farhan Khak, Deputy Official Representative of the General Secretary General of the World Organization Farhan Khak.

“The fact that such a amount of precipitation fell in the first two months of the rainy season is concerned,” said the representative of the organization.

According to him, the UN collaborates with partners and activated support to countries affected by heavy rains and floods.

Efforts are made to ensure the distribution of food, housing, water supply and sanitation services, he added.

The Central Fund for the UN Emergency Situations this year has provided a total of 10 million dollars in the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Niger to eliminate the consequences of floods.
