The DeASH terrorist organization continues to threaten the international world and security, they said to the UN, calling for the repatriation of those contained in camps in Syria.

The UN Security Council took place, dedicated to a report prepared on terrorist threats to the international world and stability.

Despite the efforts of states and international organizations, the Feash terrorist organization remains viable and adapts to new conditions, the head of the UN counter -terrorism department, Vladimir Voronkov, said at a meeting of the Security Council.

He pointed out that in the area of special risk – Syria, where instability contributes to the spread of a terrorist threat.

“The terrorist landscape is changing and requires collective, multilateral actions, since terrorist attacks threaten life, well -being, as well as the rights and freedoms of people,” said Voronkov.

He attracted attention to the fact that in the camps and places of detention in the northeast of Syria there are about 42.5 thousand people, some of which have alleged connections with the group. The repatriation pace of these people has recently decreased.

Voronkov noted that the persons contained in these camps should be sent back to their countries, and called for simplification of the return procedure.

Voronkov emphasized that it is necessary to prevent the use of Syria as a deash base.

Deash continues to pose a threat to Afghanistan and Africa

Voronkov drew attention to the fact that in Afghanistan the VEASh branch expands activities, planning attacks not only in the region, but also in Europe, and recruiting new members from the countries of Central Asia.

“I would like to remind you of the call of the General Secretary for all member states to unite and prevent Afghanistan to become a focus of terrorist activities,” Voronkov emphasized.

The influence of terrorist organizations is also growing on the African continent, especially in West Africa and Sachel, where terrorists, in particular, attack schools and actively recruit new fighters, said the UN representative.

“It is important to remind you that many people who are now in the camps in Syria and Iraq are actually fled from the violence deaash. Therefore, it is extremely important that we continue to attract attention to the votes of the victims of terrorism and provide their support,” said Voronkov.

He also emphasized the need to strengthen security at the borders to counteract the movement of terrorists. In November last year, the counter -terrorism department in partnership with Kuwait and Tajikistan as part of the Dushanbinsky process organized a high -level conference to strengthen international cooperation and create flexible border security mechanisms.
