The UN General Assembly on Wednesday, October 12, supported the draft resolution, condemning illegal attempts by Russia annexation of the territories of Ukraine. The resolution was supported by 143 countries, five opposed, 35 – abstained.
Debat on the resolution “Territorial integrity of Ukraine: compliance with the principles of the UN organization charter” continued for a long time. This document condemns “referendums” in certain areas of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Lugansk and Kherson regions of Ukraine, and also requires Russia to cancel the decision of September 29, 2022 on their “accession”.
Before that, the draft of such a resolution was considered by the UN Security Council, but Moscow took advantage of the right veto and blocked it. No one has such a right on the General Assembly.
