UN General Assembly Voted For Immediate Withdrawal Of Russian Troops From Territory Of Ukraine

The General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) adopted a draft resolution demanding an immediate withdrawal of all Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.

On the completion of the 3rd year of the war between Ukraine and Russia, the UN General Assembly gathered for an emergency session.

At the voting session, a resolution prepared by Ukraine was put up with a demand for the “immediate withdrawal of Russian troops and the end of the war”, supported by the countries of the European Union (EU).

During the vote at the General Assembly, the Ukrainian resolution was adopted in 93 votes for “against 18 votes” against “. 65 countries abstained.

While the United States and Russia voted “against” the resolution, Türkiye was among the countries that voted “for”

The adopted resolution says that the Russian occupation has been going on for three years and “continues to have destructive and long -term consequences” not only for Ukraine, but also for other regions and global stability.

The resolution, supported by EU countries, calls for the cessation of the continuing war between the two countries and to the complete departure of Russia from the international recognized borders of Ukraine.

Resolutions adopted at the General Assembly do not have mandatory legal force.
