UN: In Month, 343 Thousand Left Their Houses In Al-Jazira In Sudan

From October 20 to November 13, 343 thousand 473 people were forced to leave their homes from Al-Jazir in Central Sudan.

According to the International Migration Organization (MOM), the cause of the massive movement of the Sudanese was increased instability and collision between the army and the rapid response forces (SBR).

People crossed the neighboring states of Gadarif, Kesel and the Nile River in search of security, noted in the Moscow Region.

In the meantime, one of the local NGOs reminded that the SBR continues the siege of the city of Al-Hilaliya in the province of al-Jazir for 21 days, the number of dead reached 503 people.

On November 12, it was reported that in the city of al-Khilalia, as a result of shelling, poisoning consumed by food or due to lack of medical care, 450 people were killed.

SBR attacks on al-Jazira

One of the senior persons in the SBR, the commander of Al-Jazir, Abu Akile Kekel, announced on October 20, announced that he was leaving the ranks of the SBR and passes to the side of the army. SBR on October 20-26 attacked the villages of al-Jazira.

Many countries, including Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, condemned violations in al-Jazire.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Sudan accused the SBR of the murder of 120 people in the city of Al-Hilalia in Al-Jazira in the central part of the country.

SBR in recent days, a new “mass murder” in Al-Hilalia in Al-Jazir, the number of victims reached 120 people, the department said.

Internal conflict in Sudan

The clashes between the army and the SBR in Sudan began on April 15 and lasted 500 days. The reason for armed resistance was the issue of integration of the SBR into the structure of the army.

The fighting that began in the capital soon covered other units of the country. The Sudan government called on the international community to declare the SBR “terrorist grouping”.

The bloodshed does not stop contrary to agreements on the ceasefire and international pressure on the conflicting parties. The battles go in nine provinces in the west and southwest of the country using heavy weapons.

Attempts by the international community to achieve a ceasefire were unsuccessful due to mutual accusations and the inability of the parties to agree on the conditions made.

According to the UN, in Sudan there is a world’s largest crisis of population movement and acute hunger. Due to the conflict, more than 18.8 thousand people were killed, about 10 million people were forced to leave their homes and more than 25 million people need humanitarian assistance.
