In November 2022, the population of the Earth will reach eight billion people. This forecast was shared by the representative of the UN Population of the UN Rachel Snow in an interview with AFP.
For comparison, you need to know that in 1950 2.5 billion people lived on the planet.
According to UN experts, a rapid reduction in the growth rate of the world’s population growth is now being fixed: from 2.1% at the peak in the 1960s, up to 1% now. And the average birth rate fell from five children to a woman to 2.3, and soon risks falling below the level of the population necessary for reproduction.
If this trend is preserved, then by 2030 the population of the planet will be about 8.5 billion people, in 2050 – 9.7 billion, and in the 2080s will reach its peak – 10.4 billion. A decrease in the population will begin, according to the UN.
At the same time, the researchers say, the average life expectancy will continue to grow, which will increase the share of pensioners. This will change the labor market and create an additional load on pension systems.
