UN: More Than 6 Million People In Haiti Need Humanitarian Assistance

The humanitarian crisis in Haiti has reached an alarming level, more than 6 million people in the country need help.

The UN representative attracted attention to the fact that the humanitarian crisis in Haiti reached an alarming scale. “More than 6 million people, almost half of the country’s population, need humanitarian assistance,” said Salvador.

According to her, the number of internally displaced persons in the country also tripled and exceeded 1 million people, more than half of which are children.

Centers for temporarily residing persons are overpopulated and do not provide access to such basic services as clean water, sanitation and education, and the lack of food security affects 48 percent of the population, the special representative continued.

Maria Isabelle Salvador said that Haiti needs $ 908 million as part of a humanitarian aid plan for 2025, and urged donors to make generous contributions to facilitate suffering and support the country’s restoration efforts.
