In Ukraine, a very difficult situation has developed after a series of Russian attacks on the country’s energy and civilian infrastructure. This was stated by Deputy Secretary General of the UN Rosemary Dicarlo in his report, writes Anadolu.
“On the morning of October 10, the Russian armed forces launched rockets and drones, as a result of at least 20 civilians and more than 100 were injured, including in Kyiv, the Dnieper and Zaporozhye. Many civil facilities were damaged – including dozens residential buildings and an important civilian infrastructure. From October 10 to 18, as a result of missile shelling and attacks, at least 38 civilians of Ukraine were killed, and at least 117 were injured, ”she said.
Rosemary Dicarlo fears that due to shelling and destruction of important infrastructure, millions of Ukrainians will be in danger this winter. Many of them will be left without electricity and heating. The Deputy Secretary General of the UN recalled that according to international humanitarian law, attacks on civilians and civil infrastructure facilities are prohibited.
She also attracted attention to the conclusions of the report of an independent international commission to investigate events in Ukraine. According to the commission, the ruthless use of weapons with a wide radius of defeat in settlements turned into deaths and wounds of dozens of civilians and led to the devastation of quarters and environs.
