The UN Secretary General Antoniu Gutherrish expressed concern about the growth of tension in the north-west of Syria and called on the parties to immediately stop violence.
UN spokesman Stefan Duzharrik made a statement about Guterrish’s reaction to events in Syria.
Duzharrik said that the Secretary General reminded his parties of their obligations under international law and urgently urged them to return to the political process in accordance with the resolution of 2254 Security Councils of the UN (UN Security Council).
He noted that the attacks made by the Haiyat Tahrir Ashham (HTS) group and some armed groups authorized by the UN Security Council led to a change in the boundaries that were established since 2020. According to him, there are reports of the death of civilians, the movement of the population and damage to civilian infrastructure.
The spokesman said that Guterrysh calls on the parties to immediately stop violence and remain in contact with the special representative of the UN Secretary General in Syria Heir O. Pedersen.
Answering the question of the situation with the UN personnel, Dujarrick said that all employees are safe and continue to take the necessary measures and provide humanitarian assistance.
