UN Secretary General: Central Asia is considered center of civilization, and Uzbekistan is center of this region

UN Secretary General Antoniu Gutherrish visited Senate Oli Majlis Uzbekistan.

UN Secretary General expressed satisfaction from a meeting in the Senate Oliy Majlis and noted that Central Asia is considered the center of civilization, and Uzbekistan is the center of this region.

“Uzbekistan is one of the leading countries in many areas of the UN activity, in particular, in the implementation of the TSUR,” said Guterres.

According to him, the cooperation of Uzbekistan and the UN is of particular importance.

“When I first made a visit to Central Asia, the region was disparate. Now, thanks to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the region united. As a result of the wise policy of the head of Uzbekistan, many problems of Central Asia have been resolved,” UN Secretary General.

At the meeting, it was noted that this visit would be of great importance in the development of multifaceted cooperation of Uzbekistan and the UN. During the meeting, issues of implementing sustainable development goals were discussed. It was noted that in recent years in Uzbekistan, system work has been carried out to achieve gender equality, ensure the rights and interests of women, and the UN recommendations play an important role in this. Particular attention was focused on inter -parliamentary relations, women’s rights to education and tasks that should be realized in the context of global climate change.

The exchange of views on constructive cooperation with the UN in promoting the initiatives of Uzbekistan in the international arena, the expansion of regional ties took place. Particular attention was paid to such facts as the adoption by the UN 10 resolutions put forward by our country since 2017, the entry of Uzbekistan into the members of the UN committees and other governing bodies (the Human Rights Council, the Ecosos, the International Labor Organization, etc.).
