UN Secretary General Condemned Death Of An Employee Of Runway Detained By Hussites In Yemen

The UN Secretary General Antoniu Gutherrish resolutely condemned the death of an employee of the World Food Program (VPP), detained by the Husites in the north of Yemen.

In the statement, Guterres expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and his colleagues, and also announced solidarity with everyone who is in a similar situation.

The UN Secretary General called on Khusitov to provide clarifications on this subject and demanded an “immediate, transparent and comprehensive investigation” of what happened so that the perpetrators were responsible.

GUERRISH expressed concern to the continuing detentions of humanitarian and diplomatic workers in Yemen, emphasizing that the practice of “arbitrary detention is unacceptable.” He also called on immediately and without any conditions to free everyone who is in such a position.

In addition, he assured that the UN will continue to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of its employees working in Yemen.

Earlier, the runway reported that the deceased employee has been working in the organization since 2017 and was one of the seven local workers “arbitrarily detained” by the Husites on January 23. He died on February 11.
