In Ukraine there is a legal elected government that should be respected.
This was stated by UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterres, commenting on the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to create a temporary administration in Ukraine.
Guterrish noted that the UN representatives had certain contacts with the United States regarding negotiations between Russia and Ukraine about the ceasefire. At the same time, he added that the UN did not directly participate in these negotiations.
Earlier, the Russian leader proposed to discuss the possibility of introducing the interim administration in Ukraine under the auspices of the UN, the USA and European countries. The head of state explained that such a step would allow to hold elections and bring to power the government to which citizens “trust”, and Moscow would be able to negotiate with him.
The President of the Russian Federation explained that this mechanism allows international practice. Such precedents, he said, were in the East Timor, New Guinea, parts of the former Yugoslavia.
