UN Security Council Decisively Condemned Terrorist Attack In Jamma And Kashmir

Members of the UN Security Council most decisively condemned a terrorist attack committed on April 22, 2025 in the Jammu and Kashmir region, which killed at least 26 people and many were injured. This is stated on the UN website.

The Council expressed deep condolences to the families of the dead, and also wished the speedy and complete recovery to the victims.

The members of the Security Council in their statement again emphasized that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains one of the most serious threats to the international world and security. They called for holding the organizers and performers of this monstrous act, as well as those who financed it. Members of the Security Council called on all states to actively cooperate with countries in accordance with international law and resolutions of the Council so that the perpetrators were punished.

Terrorist attack in Pakhalgam

On April 22, in the Pakhalgam region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, armed people opened fire on tourists, as a result of which 26 people were killed. In addition, many people were injured.

After the attack, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi interrupted his official visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to New Delhi. Upon arrival in the capital of Modi, he held a meeting on security with the participation of senior officials to assess the situation.

The Indian authorities accused people who arrived from Pakistan of an attack. India suspended the “Indian waters” agreement, demanded that the Pakistani advisers working in New Delhi, leave the country for a week, and also canceled the visas issued to Pakistan citizens.

In turn, Pakistan rejected the accusations and reduced the number of diplomatic personnel of India in Islamabad.

Pakistan authorities said that any attempts by India to stop or change the direction of river flow in the Indus basin will be regarded as an act of war. The country also suspended all the trade with India and closed its airspace.

The Government of Pakistan also announced the suspension of all the visas issued to citizens of India.

In addition, the Islamabad authorities made it clear that they could suspend the Simlsky agreement signed after the 1971 war with India, which establishes the control line between countries.
