UN Was Called To Stop Violence In Bangladesh

Shocking violence on anti -government protests in Bangladesh must be put an end. This was stated by the Supreme Commissioner of the UN Human Rights Volker Turk.

He noted that over the past weekend the victims among the protesters have increased.

According to the Turk, as a result of an attack on the police station in the Syrajganje area, at least 13 law enforcement officers died.

“I am deeply concerned about the ongoing death of people and large -scale destruction. I urgently call on the political leadership and security forces (Bangladesh) to fulfill my obligations to protect the right to life, peaceful meetings and freedom of expression,” said the Supreme Commissioner.

Mass unrest in Banglads flashed after the country’s authorities canceled most quotas to government posts.

According to the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, 147 people were killed during the riots. According to local media reports, the number of those killed exceeded 200 people.
