Russian police completed the operation to combat smuggling cigarettes that flooded the markets of Yekaterinburg.
The network for counterfeit products was organized by a native of Azerbaijan Rasim Bagirov. During the inspection of boxing, the investigators found 48,623 packs of 107 brands and another 587 packs in a retail outlet on the market where his wife worked. The total cost of the seized products amounted to more than 5.3 million rubles.
At the hearing, Bagirov pleaded guilty to the crime in full, refused to testify.
Bagirov explained that he knew that these tobacco products were counterfeit, but they cost much less than similar goods with special labeling. Goods came to him through transport companies.
