The city of Lankaran is included in the UNESCO list “Network of Creative Cities.” In this regard, a candidate document prepared by the Ministry of Culture was transferred to the UNESCO Secretariat.
“The network of creative cities” unites cities based on creativity – music, art and crafts, design, cinema, literature, digital art and gastronomy. The network considers innovations and creativity as a key factor in order to promote sustainable urban development. The network has caused great interest from local communities, as the new list reflects the diversity of cities.
49 cities joined the “network of creative cities” UNESCO in decision of the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azul. Given the new members at present, the network has a total of 295 cities in 90 countries that invest in culture and creativity.
Baku is a member of the “network of creative cities” since 2019 for “design”, and Sheki since 2017 – on “art and crafts”.
