UNICEF: Armed Groups In Haiti Destroyed 47 Schools Over Past Month

Armed groups in Haiti destroyed 47 educational institutions over the past month, and in 2024 – a total of 284. This was stated by the representative of the UN children’s fund (UNICEF) at Hitianjali Narajali at the weekly press conference in the UN Geneva Department.

The representative of the Unisef noted that cases of cruel attacks on the education system have become more frequent in the country, and hundreds of thousands of children throw school, since they simply are not.

“With the growth of violence in Haiti, education – the last hope for many children and the main priority for parents – has never been subjected to such a risk,” he said.

Narayan pointed out that, according to estimates, every seventh child in Haiti can no longer attend school.
