United States called on India not to increase purchases of Russian oil

Senior Advisor to the US State Department for Energy Security, Amos Hokhstein told the senators that he urged India not to increase the purchase of Russian oil, which has sharply cheered up due to Western sanctions, Interfax reports.

“I said: look, we have no secondary sanctions that can forbid you to buy from Russia. But I would ask for two things. Firstly, do not go too far. Do not benefit from the suffering of European and American households. Secondly, negotiations properly, because if you do not buy this oil, no one will be, ”said Hokhstein.

Senator Republican from the state of Wisconsin Ron Johnson noted that Russia is in a more winning position in terms of income received at this stage of war compared to the outbreak of hostilities. “If you look exclusively at the price they receive for each barrel sold, then I agree with you,” Senator Hokhstein answered. At the same time, he added that Russia has become more difficult to repatriate the money received due to sanctions against the financial sector.
