The US coastal guard will manage the investigation of the circumstances and causes of the Titan Batiscaf accident, transporting passengers to Titanic, the American National Transport Security Council (NTSB) said.
“The US coastal guard announced the loss of the Titan underwater apparatus with a large marine accident and will head the investigation,” the department said in social networks.
According to the report, the coast guard is engaged in all media requests related to the investigation, and NTSB “joined the investigation and will contribute.”
Batiscaf “Titan” disappeared in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean on June 18.
There were five people on board, including tourists, including a British billionaire, a Pakistani businessman and his son. They went on an expedition to the place of the Titanic accident.
The Polar Prince Research ship, which delivered the Titan to the place of immersion, lost contact with him on Sunday – an hour and 45 minutes after the device began to descend to the fragments of the Titanic.
