United States has announced obligations of Lithuanian protection against backdrop of Russian threats

The United States said on Tuesday that they firmly support Lithuania and their obligations within the framework of NATO to protect the Member States after Russia began to threaten the Baltic country due to transit restrictions. This was stated by the representative of the State Department of Ned Price.

“We support our NATO allies, and we support Lithuania,” the AFP agency quotes the statement of Ned Price.

“In particular, our commitment to the fifth article by NATO is a question that an attack on one will mean an attack on all is an obligation from the United States is unshakable,” he said.

Price noted that the United States welcome “unprecedented economic measures” undertaken by Lithuania and other countries against Russia in connection with its invasion of Ukraine.

Answering a question about Russia’s statements, Price said that we are not going to speculate on Russian rattling weapons or Russian praise and “we do not even want to give them additional airtime.”
