United States Has Suspended Restoration Of Ukrainian Energy System

The United States has suspended the restoration of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. This was reported by the NBC News TV channel with reference to sources at the International Development Agency (USAID) under the US State Department.

According to sources, the United States suspended investments in the amount of $ 100 million allocated to restore the Ukrainian energy system, which suffered from attacks of Russian troops.

“This significantly undermines the administration’s ability to negotiate about the ceasefire and gives a clear signal of the Russian Federation that we are not worried about what is happening with Ukraine or our previous investments,” the sources said.

The interlocutors of the TV channel noted that Russia wages both a military and economic war in Ukraine.

“They are trying to crush the economy, but USAID played a central role in providing assistance to the economy in the formation of its stability, including by strengthening the energy network. We provided significant support to the Ukrainian government to avoid the macroeconomic crisis,” the sources said.

USAID departure from Ukraine will make the country’s energy system vulnerable to attacks of Russian missiles in the midst of winter, sources say.
