United States is preparing for “First Arctic War”

US regularly recycles its military strategy and increases forces to actively counter Russia in the Arctic due to global climate change and increased competition in the region. It became known from the publication The National Interest.

According to the authors of the material, the rapid melting of the Arctic ice contributed to the emergence of new shipping routes, which helped Moscow to develop the infrastructure and consolidate his military presence in the extreme north. It caused genuine concern in Washington, which is why he was forced to intensify the preparation of his troops and to look for cooperation with other Arctic states, in particular Norway.

“The US-Norwegian Arctic Martial Alliance may be of great importance from the point of view of the interest of the Pentagon in countering the visible and well-known achievements of Russia in the Arctic,” say journalists. They stressed that Moscow also managed to grow up his icebreaking fleet, which may be dangerous for the United States, and called on the authorities to be ready for the “First Arctic War.”

“The discovery pace of new waterways due to ice melting cause the US Navy, the need to act more largely [rather than now],” says National Interest.
