United States limits exchange of intelligence with Ukraine

Washington sends weapons to Ukraine to billions of dollars, publicly transferring these supplies, up to the number of rounds, but the United States is much more careful when they describe another significant contribution to the success of Ukraine on the battlefield – intelligence about the Russian armed forces, writes Washington Post.

American and Ukrainian officials, on the terms of anonymity, told the publication that information about the location and movement of Russian troops enters Ukraine in real time. In order to avoid increasing tension in relations between Washington and Moscow, the American administration has developed an intelligence exchange guide, which establishes two broad prohibitions on the types of information that the United States can share with Ukraine.

Firstly, the United States cannot provide detailed information that would help to kill representatives of the Russian command. This category includes, including the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov and Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu.

The second category concerns any information that will help Ukraine attack Russian goals outside the Ukrainian borders, the interlocutors of the publication noted. This rule is partly intended so that the United States does not become in the attacks that Ukraine can undertake on the territory of Russia.

The United States will not, according to officials, will not tell Ukrainian forces that a particular Russian general was seen in a certain place, and then report or help Ukraine strike him. At the same time, the United States will share information about the location of command and management objects, as this can help Ukraine in its own defense, writes Washington Post.
