The US government placed an order for the production of artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian army for $ 522 million (486 million euros), the press service of the US Armed Forces.
It is indicated that this order was transferred to two defense concerns: Northrop Grumman Systems and Global Military Products. The first batch of ammunition made as part of this contract should be set in March.
Earlier, on February 13, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg indicated that the Ukrainian army spends significantly more ammunition than it can currently be produced in the West. “The current level of expenditure of ammunition in the Ukrainian army is many times higher than our current rates of production. This exerts pressure on our defense industry. … Therefore, we need to increase production and invest in production capacities,” he said.
