United States Plans To Update Air Groups At Bases In Japan

The United States announced plans to update the grouping of tactical military aviation located at air base in Japan. This is stated in the message of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon).

The modernization plan, which will be implemented in the next few years, provides for investments in the amount of more than $ 10 billion. This plan will strengthen the American-Japanese alliance, strengthen regional deterrence and strengthen peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, the Pentagon noted.

In particular, the US Air Force will place 36 modernized F-15EX fighters in exchange for 48 F-15C/D Aviation at the Kaden airbase in the Japanese Okinava Prefecture. In addition, 36 F-16 aircraft, which are currently deployed on the basis of Misava in the Aomori Prefecture, will be replaced by 48 F-35a fighters.
