United States proposed a way to resolve Transnistrian conflict

US Ambassador to Moldova Kent Doyle Logsdon believes that Transnistria needs to provide a special status. The diplomat expressed such an opinion during a visit to the city of Balti. This city is considered the “northern capital” of the republic.

Earlier, Oleg Serebryan, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for Reintegration, said that the format of “5+2” has lost functionality to settle the Transnistrian conflict. He saw the reason in an exacerbation of relations between Ukraine and Russia. However, official Chisinau does not insist on changing the format.

In negotiations “5+2” are participated: Chisinau and Tiraspol as a part of the conflict, Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE as intermediaries, the European Union and the USA as observers.

“We want to do everything possible to ensure that the integrity and safety of Moldova be respected,” said the US Ambassador. “We see a way out of the crisis in granting a Transnistria special status as part of Moldova,” Logsdon said during his visit. The broadcast was carried out on the YouTube channel of the Baltic project NordNews.
